At the end of the service the Rabbi blessed the five children there. To the boys he gave the traditional blessing, “May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh” because, he explained, those two sons of Joseph remained true to the God of Israel even though they had been raised in Egypt. So interesting! (The girls are blessed to be like Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Leah).
