Week Ending 7 April

One year left!!  How can that be??  We are just starting to relax and enjoy ourselves and our fascinating surroundings.  I found a line of a poem this week that expresses the feeling I have when I look into all the beautiful faces I see here in India. Look at these photos and I think you will agree.

Christ plays in ten thousand places,
Lovely in limbs, and lovely in eyes not his
To the Father through the features of men's faces.
(G.M. Hopkins, "As Kingfishers Catch Fire")

Thursday we said goodbye to cute little Sister Reeta Thangaraj who completed an honorable mission and headed home to Coimbatore on Tuesday, March 26.

Some of the Sister missionaries gathered at the gate to see her off early in the morning.

Thursday Sisters Shoba Gupta and Nirmal Dass (love those women) and I visited the Sejwal family.  Neha and Dhruv are two of our Primary children.

The bougainvillea we pass on our morning walks are beginning to burst with colorful blossoms.  Because of the heat we have moved our start time up to 5:45 a.m.

Friday we went with Sisters Govindaraj and Raydu to visit Vivek and Aman.  It was wonderful to see the boys.  We miss them so much now that we have been assigned to attend the Pitampura branch.

The park near our apartment is looking so beautiful with its spring blossoms.

Sunday afternoon we went with Rohit to his village to visit his school which he has named "Choose the Right Academy. "

He and his cousin teach English and basic computer skills.  Rohit has given the school a fresh coat of paint and installed these new computers.

Saturday evening we organized a youth and YSA missionary activity to support our Asia Area Easter campaign.  We asked all in attendance to think of the good things which the Savior has brought to their lives and share one of them on a poster.

We are grateful for the many blessings the Savior brings to our lives.  We love him and hope to be worthy to be called his disciples.

Saturday evening we observed the interpretation of the Saturday morning session of General Conference into Hindi taking place in the Stake Center next door to our apartment.  The man on the left, Pushp Narayan Nishra, is the most skilled and experienced on the "Tieline" team.  He is assigned to interpret the addresses of the "fast talkers."  Next to him is Arpit Pandey, the translation director for India and the first counselor in the Stake Presidency.  Next is Renu Singh, the only woman on the team for this session (there was only one talk by a sister.)  The fourth person in the photo is Rapant Dangwal.  He manages all the equipment including the "Tieline" by which the interpreters receive the audio from conference and record it in Hindi.  They worked from about 8:30 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. Saturday night and then again on Sunday night.  Scenes like this played out all over the world as you sat and watched General Conference.  The meetings were translated into 94 different languages.  The Hindi interpretation produced by these talented people will be added to the video of Conference and shown next week here.

Sunday we attended the Pitampura Branch.  We meet in the ballroom of  the Park Residency hotel.  The Primary meets in one of the hotel rooms where the kids all sit on the bed.  The sister to the left of me is preparing to go to the temple with her husband and three children this month.  Its a fun group of people.
