Baby Quilts, Street Ice, Shoulder Excavation, Udayan Girls, Ellen Williams, Elder Palmer Dass, Synagogue, YSA Pitampura/Pizza
This will take you back to the old days - while it is over 100F, there are ice mongers with huge blocks of ice on the open sidewalk selling chunks to street vendors to help them keep their offerings cold, well, cooler anyway.
On my way to the E Block fruit and vegetable market, we have watched this hole being excavated pan-by-pan. It will be the foundation of a five story building. Not uncommon. There is a surplus of labor so what would often be done by machine at home is here done with manual labor. Women in their sarais also do this.
Our wonderful Udayan girls playing shake their booties to empty the ping-pong balls in the box tied to their waists.
Move the ping-pong balls with spoon held in mouth.
Carrying ping-pong balls with spoons held in mouth.
Moving ping-pong balls across the floor by blowing through straws.
One of the Udayan girls likes to take my telephone and do some creative photography - here is my black and white portrait.
Ellen visited us for about 14 hours on her way back to the U.S. from Bhuttan, where she was on a tour. We visited the Museum of Modern Art, ate out and visited with the Toones. Sister Toone's family (Hyers) were very close friends of the Horiuchis.
Our good friend, Nirmala Dass's son returning from his mission in Bangalore. Wonderful Primary President at the Malviya Nagar Ward. Elias, her grandson.
We were finally able to get President Hansen to synagogue. It was, as usual, a small, humble by sweet group. Afterward, we took Ezekiel Malekar (acting Rabbi) and his daughter, her husband and their daughter out to dinner. We ate at Latitude 28 in Khan Market. It ended up being wonderful Italian - at least wonderful to the Americans. Our Indian friends didn't have much.
Saturday we had the YSA from the Pitampura Branch over to make pizza and watch a movie. We watched Love, Kennedy, a story about the illness of young girl in and LDS family and its spiritual impact.
Pizza, Jeanette's banana bread, pasta salad and a fruit plate.
Didn't last long.
